Global Environmental Databases: Present Situation; Future Directions (Volume 2)

Global Environmental Databases: Present Situation; Future Directions (Volume 2)

Edited by R. Tateishi and D. Hastings | 154 pages | 9.6" x 6.9" | 2002

This book is a sequel to the book, "Global Environmental Databases" which was published in July 2000 as one of the activities by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS Working Group IV/6 (1996-2000)). The following Working Group IV/8 (2000-2004) on "Global Environmental Databases" has taken over this activity by the same cochairmen, Tateishi and Hastings.

As the same as the first book, this book consists of two parts - Thematic domains and Cross-cutting issues. The Part I, Thematic domains, deals with specific types of global environmental data, such as climatic data, livestock data, land use data, and biophysical data. The Part 2, Cross-cutting issues, deals with common subjects among various environmental parameters, such as remote sensing data, spatial data infrastructures, administrative and cultural challenges and policy aspects.

Edited by R. Tateishi and D. Hastings | 256 pages | 11.25" x 8.25" | 2000

Research, education, and policy making of/for global environmental change need global databases of environmental parameters. This book was written, as the first attempt, by internationally reputed scientists to review the present situation of existing global datasets, to identify obstacles in global datasets/ databases development and their usage, and to find the better directions to remove these obstacles.

The book consists of two parts: Thematic domains and Cross-cutting issues. This book is useful for environmental scientists, remote sensing scientists, spatial information scientists, and graduate students of these fields.
