The above portion of the satellite image shows the new Chek Lap Kok International Airport. The Y-shaped Passenger Terminal, the northern and southern runway are clearly seen in the image. The northern runway opens in June 1999 for daily operation. The image below shows the airport and its vicinity. The airport is connected by a system of highway and Airport Express Railway built along the northern Lantau Island to the heart of Hong Kong. The Tsing Ma Bridge, one of the world's longest suspension bridge, connects Tsing Yi Island to the Lantau Island.
